　「オクラホマ」は、アメリカ海軍のネヴァダ級戦艦の2番艦。真珠湾攻撃時に多数の魚雷が命中し、転覆沈没。脱出した乗組員の多くは、隣に停泊していた「メリーランド」に移り戦闘を続けました。その後、横転着底状態で放置されていた同艦は、サルベージ作業を経て浮揚されたものの、その損傷はひどく、修理は断念。1944年に除籍されました。
　作品は、1941年時の「オクラホマ」が、真珠湾に入港する様子をイメージして描きました。太陽が西に傾き始める頃に、ホスピタルポイントを微速で通過中のシーンです。

The Oklahoma was the second of the U.S. Navy's Nevada class battleships. She was hit by numerous torpedoes during the attack on Pearl Harbor and capsized and sank. Many of the crew members who escaped from her sinking moved to the Maryland, which was anchored next to her, and continued fighting. She was then left in an overturned and grounded state, and although she was salvaged and lifted to the surface, she was so badly damaged that repairs were abandoned, and she was removed from the naval register in 1944.
This work depicts the Oklahoma at the time of 1941 entering Pearl Harbor. The scene is as the sun begins to tilt to the west and she is passing Hospital Point at a low speed.
