「産声－鋼鉄の咆哮 大和 2601－」
“Roar of Steel -A New Generation Battleship- Battleship Yamato 2601” 昭和16（1941）年12月に世界最大の戦艦として竣工した「大和」は、まさに日本戦艦史のクライマックスを飾る巨艦であり、当時の最先端技術の粋を集めて建造されました。その建造から終焉までのエピソードは印象深く、今でも日本人の心の中に大きな存在としてあり続けています。大東亜戦争中「大和」と姉妹艦「武藏」は、戦艦としての能力を活かせず没することになりました。しかし、その建造で培われた様々な技術、思想などは戦後の復興と経済成長の重要な糧となったのです。産業界のあらゆる業種がそれぞれの現場で生産管理の導入に尽力し、その功績は日本の産業界の根幹となりました。大和は戦後にこそ、そして今なお活躍していると言っても過言ではありません。
作品は、46㎝主砲を放った瞬間の「大和」（竣工時）を描いたものです。「大和」戦没70周年にあたる平成27（2015）年、この作品を「大和」の艦内神社分霊元である大和神社に奉納しました。
Completed in Showa 16 (1941) as the
largest battleship in the world, Yamato was the climax of Japan’s battleship
history, incorporating the newest technology. From her construction to her
death, her existence has left a deep mark on the Japanese soul. In the Greater
East Asian War (the Pacific War), neither the Yamato nor her sister ship, the
Musashi, were able to show their power as battleships. However, the techniques
and ways of thinking in building these ships had a great effect on the economic
development of Japan in the post war period. In various industries the
knowledge gained in her construction was put to great use, and formed part of
the foundation of Japanese industry today, so it can truly be said that the
Yamato lives on even today.
This work shows the Yamato at the moment of
firing her main battery of 18-inch guns.
In Heisei 27 (2015), the 70th anniversary
of Yamato’s loss, this work was dedicated to Oyamato Shrine, the shrine which
had shared its patron deity with the shrine onboard the battleship Yamato.
