“Roar -Panzerschiff DKM Admiral Graf Spee-”

　「アドミラル・グラーフ・シュペー」は、ドイツ海軍によって運用された「ポケット戦艦」とも呼ばれるドイッチュラント級装甲艦の3番艦です。第二次世界大戦序盤、同艦は南大西洋からインド洋にかけて実施された通商破壊作戦に従事し、多くの商船を沈めました。1939年12月13日、巡洋艦「エイジャックス」・「アキリーズ」・「エクゼター」に捕捉され交戦（ラプラタ沖海戦）し損傷。最寄りの中立国ウルグアイのモンテビデオ港に退避するも、包囲されて遂には自沈しました。
　作品は、南大西洋で通商破壊任務に就く「アドミラル・グラーフ・シュペー」をイメージして描いたものです。



The Admiral Graf Spee was the third ship of the Deutschland class of Panzerschiffe (armored ships), also known as "pocket battleships," operated by the German Navy. Early in World War II, she was engaged in trade-destroying operations conducted from the South Atlantic to the Indian Ocean, sinking many merchant ships. On December 13, 1939, she was discovered and engaged (Battle of the River Plate) by the cruisers HMS Ajax, HMS Achilles and HMS Exeter and damaged. She was evacuated to the port of Montevideo, Uruguay, the nearest neutral country, but was surrounded and finally sunk herself.
This work depicts the Admiral Graf Spee on a trade-destruction mission in the South Atlantic.
